Back in Cambridge

Wow, what a trip that was! I saw some amazing things and had lots of fun swimming and snorkeling and boogie boarding and hiking and biking all around Oahu. I also had fun playing street music with my new machine and made lots of people laugh.

I'm glad to be back home now though with old friends and family even if spring is a bit late coming this year. To be sure I miss the beach so close and warm every morning but it's nice to sleep in my own bed once again.

Also I'm really excited to have my workshop back once again. I've added many new features to my music machine and there are more in the works. I've been designing a new bike trailer to help me transport all my equipment. I'm really looking forward to the coming season here in Cambridge.

I got an email from another one man band I used to know in Switzerland that found me on line. He said I see you are in Cambridge now. I live right nearby and we should get together for a beer sometime soon. Well it turns out that Charley is actually living near Cambridge England, not Cambridge Massachusetts. It looks like that beer will have to wait. But now that I've proven that I can travel successfully and busk with my new machine I will certainly have to take it to Europe again someday. I'll keep you posted.

Peace Waves in Honolulu!

Aloha from sunny Waikiki beach. I arrived a couple of weeks ago now and this trip is certainly going to be an experience I wont forget.

Before leaving I took apart the new portable Peace wave Generating one man band and wrapped it in a piece of carpeting which I bound up with old inner tubes. The day after arriving, still a bit jet-lagged from the journey, I reassembled it in the courtyard of the hostel where I was staying and went out to play a couple of sets on Kalakau Street in the evening. That's the main drag where all the tourists shop and the street performers set up.

The new version of the Professor World Band has been a lots of fun to play here and attracts lots of attention. It's been a challenging place to play. Kalakau Street is very loud and noisy and there are lots of other performers so it's not easy to find a good place to set up. Still, there are some corners where I can play at sunset and sing as I watch the sun sink over the clear blue waters of the Pacific. With all the blue skies and beautiful weather and amazing sights I feel lucky to be here. Especially when I see pictures of all the snow in Boston. I'm certainly not getting rich playing here with all the competition. There's another one man band and lots of mimes, magicians break dancers, and all kinds of musicians and just about any kind of act you can imagine. But I'm getting by, making lots of people smile, getting lots of exercise and loving what I do.

The plan is to hangout here for another month or so. By then Boston should be starting to warm up and I can head back to my happy home in Cambridge once again. I'll keep you posted and hopefully be adding some photos and video from Honolulu soon.

New Peace Wave Generator in the Works!

I've been working on a new more portable version of the Peace Wave Generator. This one is designed to be worn on the back. It's coming along nicely and is starting to be lots of fun. I've tried it out a couple of times in Harvard Square and the Boston Public Gardens and had a lot of positive response. This is very encouraging and I will carry on with my research and development. This one is designed to be taken apart and reassembled quickly for airline transport and international travel. Stay tuned for further updates along those lines.
